Student support
Tallinn Health University of Applied Sciences provides a range of student support services to help students throughout their studies. These services include academic counselling, psychological counselling, career counselling and tutoring.
The aim of academic counselling is to support students with academic and study-related matters and to help them find solutions to situations that may arise during their studies. Through academic counselling, students can receive guidance and information on topics including:
- study regulations and academic procedures;
- practical training arrangements;
- planning, extending and terminating academic leave;
- study volume and study load requirements;
- exmatriculation;
- studying abroad as an exchange student (student mobility);
- recognition of prior learning and work experience;
- support for students with special educational needs, including information on available assistive technologies and reasonable accommodations.
The aim of psychological counselling is to support students’ mental well-being and help them address personal and study-related challenges. Psychological counselling is available, among other things, for:
- personal development issues (self-esteem, loss of motivation, assertiveness difficulties, etc.);
- psychological support related to health conditions (acute or chronic illness, stress, depression, etc.);
- crisis counselling (major life events such as serious illness, bereavement, grief, divorce, etc.);
study-related difficulties (time management and planning, exam or presentation anxiety, and developing effective learning strategies for meaningful learning, etc.).
Please note: Psychological counselling is available only to students of the Tallinn Health University of Applied Sciences.

Advance registration by email (marika.merits@ttk.ee) is required for counselling. Counselling sessions take place on Wednesdays from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in Tallinn. If a student's study location is outside Tallinn, counselling can be arranged online. Grief counselling is provided at the earliest available opportunity, including on other weekdays, depending on the circumstances and availability.

Advance registration by email (marii@tasakaalustuudio.ee) is required for counselling. All counselling sessions are conducted online.
Counselling is free of charge, regardless of the student's study mode, study load, or academic leave status.
Career counselling is provided by the respective academic units and the Vocational Education Department as part of their regular activities, as well as by the Study Department (e.g. recognition of prior learning and work experience).
Through career counselling, students can receive guidance on topics including:
- analysis and planning of education and working life, and setting goals;
- identifying learning and work experience, and acquired skills to support career planning;
- career opportunities and prospects;
- work ethics and the development of professional values;
- short- and long-term career goals; career confidence, work motivation and competitiveness;
- support for students with special educational needs, including information on learning needs, available assistive technologies and reasonable accommodations.

Student tutors support first-year students and incoming international exchange students in adapting to the study environment and starting their studies successfully. They also help first-year students address challenges that may arise during the beginning of their studies.
