Health Education Centre is an academic unit of Tallinn Health University of Applied Sciences, offering internationally recognized higher education and a competence center for occupational therapy and health promotion. Health Education Centre organises studies (including internships) for the following study programmes: occupational therapist, health promotion and midwifery.
Occupational therapy identifies factors affecting the occupational performance of the person and with guidance aimed at facilitating activities of daily living (ADLs). The Occupational therapist study programme provides students with subjects that help to understand the person as a whole and to offer them how to cope with life.
Health promotion is a part of public health, focusing on having an influence on socio-economic factors defining person's daily behaviour. Health promotion study programme guarantees internationally recognized quality applied higher education for working in the field of public health.
Midwife has a significant role on counselling and health education of women, families and society. Work of a midwife includes prenatal preparation and instructing how to be a parent based on knowledge of gynecology, family planning and childcare. Midwifes safely manage the delivery and offer the best possible help in emergency situations to maintain the health of a mother and a child.
