NANDA

NANDA-I is an abbreviation for NANDA International.

NANDA International, Inc. was originally founded as a North American organization, and the first nursing diagnoses were developed mostly by nurses from the United States and Canada. Over the past 20 to 30 years, more and more nurses from around the world have been involved in the process, and NANDA International, Inc. now has members from 40 countries, with nearly two-thirds of its membership coming from outside North America. NANDA-I nursing diagnoses are used in curricula, clinical nursing care, research, and information technology applications on every continent. Nursing diagnoses are continually being developed and refined in many countries, and much of the research on NANDA-I nursing diagnoses is conducted outside North America.
As a result of significant international activity, contributions, and implementation, the North American Nursing Diagnosis Association expanded its scope in 2002 and adopted the name NANDA International, Inc.
