ENDA Congress 2026
The 17th Congress of the European Nurse Directors Association (ENDA), “Nursing Leadership for Sustainable Healthcare”, is taking place in Tallinn from 14–17 September, bringing together nursing leaders and healthcare experts from across Europe. The congress focuses on the role of nursing leadership in shaping sustainable healthcare and provides an opportunity to share experiences and best practices.
The first day of the congress began at Tallinn Health University of Applied Sciences, where participants were welcomed by Ulvi Kõrgemaa, Rector of the UAS, and Jaana Sepp, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs.
As part of the programme, participants also had the opportunity to explore the learning environment and simulation centre at Tallinn Health University of Applied Sciences. The UAS also hosted the workshop “Designing Work That Works: Burnout, Fatigue, and Human Factors in Rota Design”, led by Dr Chiara Dall’Ora, Associate Professor at the School of Health Sciences at the University of Southampton and an expert in healthcare workforce and systems. The workshop focused on burnout, fatigue, and the importance of considering human factors when designing work organisation and staff schedules.
Alongside nursing leadership, ENDA 2026 addresses topics including sustainable workforce planning, technology and innovation in nursing, climate-conscious healthcare, and the role of nursing leaders in shaping health policy. According to the congress organisers, international collaboration and the exchange of experiences are essential for developing more resilient and sustainable healthcare systems.
Tallinn Health University of Applied Sciences is also actively represented at the congress. In addition to delivering the opening remarks, several members of the university's staff are presenting their work at the congress. On the first day, Ulvi Kõrgemaa presented her doctoral research topic, while Jaana Sepp gave a presentation on the second day.
