Strategic Partnership: MiMo Midwives Moving on
Since 2018, the Midwifery Curriculum of Tallinn Health University of Applied Sciences has been part of the MiMO (Midwives Moving On) strategic partnership network, which brings together higher education institutions providing midwifery education across Europe and Australia. The partnership aims to establish strong and sustainable international cooperation, led by an active steering committee elected every three years. Each participating institution is encouraged to take initiative in joint activities and development projects.
The cooperation focuses on international exchange of students and lecturers. Each year, two students have the opportunity to apply for a short-term clinical placement with partner institutions during weeks 10–11 and 41–42. In addition, lecturers conduct annual workshops for students of partner universities.
Joint educational modules have been developed within the network — for example, between 2019 and 2022, a collaborative online international learning (COIL) elective course Respectful Maternity Care was implemented. The network also supports curriculum benchmarking and joint planning of research and scientific projects.
